Get Ready For Big Things To Come In 2021
We’re officially heading into our third month of trading! In one sense, it feels a lot longer as we’ve been busily delivering hundreds of meals to hangry customers across London, but in reality, we’ve only just started.
Since our launch in November, we’ve been on a massive and exciting learning curve, and we’d like to say a huge thank you to our first customers. You’ve made our dream possible and have put faith in us, allowing us to grow at a rate that we weren’t fully expecting, but are so grateful for!
As is always the case, the New Year has had us thinking about ways in which we can improve our product and services for our ever-growing Chirky Fam, and what better way to make ourselves accountable than to share our goals with you?
So, let’s take a look at what’s coming…
Naturally, there’s nothing more important that the food we prepare and deliver, so of course that’s at the top of our list. We launched Chirky with 10 amazing meals that we developed with our friend Rose in her North London kitchen which came with its own challenges. Now that we are up and running, the meal testing process has been different but equally thrilling, and our Head Chef Jedd has truly outdone himself. We plan on releasing ten new meals throughout the first quarter of 2021, with the first drop happening this month.
Not only have we taken your feedback and requests to heart, but we really do practice what we preach when it comes to the Chirky lifestyle. We eat our own meals at least five days a week so that we know exactly what our customers’ own experience is. That’s what has helped us design the latest additions to our menu, and are adding exciting, fresh and diverse flavours to our menu alongside a few classic, comforting dishes, so that there’s something for you no matter what you’re in the mood for.
We’re currently working hard on the unseen work that goes behind new launches, including packaging design, organising photoshoots and refining our recipes so that they’re nothing but perfect by the time they arrive at your doorstep. Excited? You should be!
More Vegan Dishes
It’s been so much fun to see our customers’ buying patterns, something that you can only make educated guesses about before you actually launch. One thing that we’ve noticed is that our customers are big fans of the flexitarian lifestyle, with almost all of our orders being made up of both meaty and vegan dishes.
When we launched, only three of our meals were vegan, however now that we know that you guys are big fans of a vegan meal (or two or three) in your weekly haul, we thought it was only right to give you a few more options. Not only have we created vegan versions of some of our most popular meals (you’re going to have to wait and see which ones), but we’ve also been working on some absolutely mouth-watering standalone vegan meals that you’re going to adore, whether you’re completely plant-based or just like dipping your toe into the vegan pool to test the waters.
These vegan dishes will be dropping over the next few weeks and months, so prep your tastebuds, things are about to get even tastier, and more sustainable.
More Delivery Days
At the moment, we prepare our dishes on Sundays every week and deliver them on the same day, ensuring maximum freshness and a full fridge for the week ahead. However, we’ve listened to you, and many of you would like to see some more delivery day options throughout the week. So, we’re doing it!
Over the next few months, we will be increasing our delivery days to four days per week, and subsequently increasing our days spent cooking in the kitchen to make sure that we never compromise on quality or freshness.
We hope that this will make Chirky more accessible to our customers old and new, by making ourselves more available to you when you’re hangry and really need a friend. That’s what we’re here for, so watch this space.
As you know, one of the driving forces behind almost all of our decisions at Chirky is sustainability. We’ve worked incredibly hard to produce our meals in environmentally friendly packaging, as well as ensuring that the delivery of our meals is as low impact on our environment as possible by using electric cars and bicycles instead of larger logistics firms.
This year, one of our goals is to reduce our food waste to zero where possible. Whilst we do not have a huge amount of food waste as it stands, we believe that we can always do better, and won’t stop working until it’s perfect. With that in mind, we’re exploring ways in which we can streamline our processes to ensure that we only order the produce we need to prepare our meals.
The introduction of more days in our kitchen and more delivery slots throughout the week is key to this, as well as carefully managing our order cut off times to ensure we that we know exactly what orders are locked in before we contact or produce suppliers.
We are so excited to be improving and growing with you, we wouldn’t be able to do it without your support.
